It's Mel and Holly Time !

November 5th, 2011 was a magic day. This was New Life………As in New Life Providence Church ! A few days prior to the event in a final meeting with our couple Mel (the groom) noticed the church program from a day ago in DJ Seko’s Event-Performance Binder. “No…..You’re kidding me…….Babe, he goes to New Life too !” It turns out that the officiant for their wedding, Pastor Kevin Turpin, was from New Life Providence. The instrumentalists performing for their ceremony were also from New Life. The couple started attending New Life Providence about four years ago and became members two years ago. DJ Seko’s family started attending New Life Providence six years ago…... Seko recounts that he knew that Mel looked familiar…(Seko’s not claiming perfect attendance here…Maybe 65% or so…. I’m sure some are surprised to read that Seko attends church…….Truthfully Seko needs to attend more (If anybody needs Jesus it's Seko)! (Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha…..We digressed….) Seko and the family-to-be discussed reasons for attending New Life Providence and all laughed knowing that this was really going to be a family affair.

The ceremony & reception took place at The Founders Inn in Virginia Beach, VA. Seko noted that he was pleased that they choose Blue Steel Lighting. Blue Steel presented a moving (actually moving) fall visual which instantly made anyone feel as if they were arriving home for the Holy-Days/Holidays. The couple decided upon using Positive Vibes for the reception only. Seko introduced the wedding party using the Peanuts-Charlie Brown theme called Linus and Lucy. You probably remember the Peanuts cartoons…… This was the song that Linus played which seemed to always start the party ! Seko called the wedding party the “Peanut Gallery” and jokingly noted before introducing the bride and groom that Lucy finally got Linus before providing the “Storybook” introductions that Positive Vibes is known for.
The meal was a blast ! Seko always finds special touches and activities to make the normal boring mealtime a raving foot-stomping party. The energetic dinner soundtrack included Country favorites, Light and Classic Rock, Motown Soul, and upbeat Popular music. The diverse musical selections was a perfect match for the diverse guest demographics. Holly wondered before the wedding if the diverse groups would enjoy themselves……….. Don’t worry, be happy ! A good time was had by all !

Seko ensured that Fred the Photographer remained busy and engaged the crowd in numerous high energy dances and even did a Paparazzi dance allowing moments for the couple and their guests to have the photographer catch them in some fun poses ! The crowd yelled in a frenzy in response to the question “What time is it ?” The correct and refrained answer was “Mel & Holly TIME !”

After all is said and done, this event was absolute fun. We look forward to the anniversary Jam !

Nicole and Astley

"Seko was absolutely wonderful. We would recommend him one thousand times over! Seko was wonderful at assisting us in our wedding. We had no idea how much we did not know when it came to the reception planning and he was such a big help right down finding us a ring bearers pillow 10 minutes before the ceremony because I forgot to get one." -

Welcome to Jam-Rock !
Nicole and Astley shared a love for each other, shared a love for family, and shared a Jamaican heritage allowing me to get my "Yankee-Boy gone wicked pon tha' jam" swagger on ! Their friends and family came from far and farther to celebrate this couples love on Valentines day 2009. Friends from Iraq, Jamaica, New York, New Jersey, and Panama tried their best to out-party the few-but-funky Virginians in the room.
Our services began with providing sound and music for the ceremony. Nicole and Astley decided upon a warm splash of romantic jazz to set the mood for their nuptials. Astley walked in the room as we played Kem's "I Can't stop Loving You." The wedding party entered the room to an extended version of Musiq Soulchild's performance of "Love". After a short moment of silence in recognition of Astley's and Nicole's mothers whose presence was felt as if they were smiling ear-to-ear from heaven, Nicole and here Papa graced into the room as Patti (LaBelle) bellowed out "I Love you, I Love you." from her classic tear-jerker "Want and need you baby". Never mind the song.......... Nicole brought tears to every one's eyes.
The officiant, the bride, and the groom were all heard as we mic'ed the ceremony ensuring that the 80+ guests would hear the vows. The couple recessed to Kirk Frankiln's "Declaration" declaring the couple one.
The reception showcased the couples Island heritage as I played Smooth-yet-Jazzy Caribbean tunes and upbeat Jazzy R&B tunes while the guests snacked on gourmet Beef Patties and other Island favorites. The couple's extended first dance began with Luther Vandross' captivating voice and ended with all of the married guests encircling the couple with their love and a "Happy Valentine's Day" kiss ! Smooches Yall !!!
The party was one and the guests ate, danced, and sang-along with the mix of Caribbean, Old-School, R&B, Classic Soul, and a brief splash of Hip-Hop tunes. The event was due to end at 9:00 PM.........Right............We came to party and celebrate what the Almighty has brought together. Bless Up & Respect to the couple.
Love yall'.

Jalessa & David

"I'm still receiving phone calls of how EVERYONE young, middle and young at heart enjoyed DJ Seko. Family member's that weren't going to come to the wedding came at the last minute and are still talking about how AWESOME you were. Yet, again you went beyond my expectations. I thank God for you and look forward to using your services again." - Minister L. Rivers

Four years ago Jalessa was having her Sweet 16 party. D.J. Danny Rodriguez (former superstar Jock of Positive Vibes DJs) was scheduled to be her D.J. until he had a family event that demanded his immediate attention. I was the back-up staff on that day so I ended up performing at her event. We had an absolute ball ! Jalessa's mother, Minister Rivers, was a bit skeptical at first since Danny had developed such a strong reputation for fun events. She walked away a fan that night telling me "When we get this girl married we will give you a call." We have been in contact a few times since then as Minister Rivers has referred our services to a number of people. Then a few months ago Minister Rivers called our office and said "Guess who is getting married ?"

We met at her job, signed the contract and then began exchanging the necessary information. David's family was of Jamaican descent......"Do you have some good Caribbean tunes ?"...No problems, no worries !

The guests included the couples young friends, the parent's older friends and family, and the parent's conservative church family. After it was all said and done, we all danced, we all partied, and we all prayed and wished for the very best for the young couple !

Jalessa was a beautiful bride ! David is a lucky dude. I feel honored to be a part of their extended family. May the years find you more committed, more settled, and more in love.

Kim & Mike Roulhac

"My husband and I were very pleased with the service we received from Positive Vibes. D.J. A.T. was excellent. He continuously checked on us throughout the night. He also got the guest to participate. He did an EXCELLENT job! I will use your services again and I will also recommend you to my friends! Thanks for a night to remember! " - Kim Mix Roulhac

Kim's event was fun. The crowd was involved in every aspect of the celebration. As I introduced the bride & groom, I had one side of the room say the bride's name and the other side said the grooms name then everyone said the newlyweds last name together ! Can you say PANDEMONIUM ? It was crazy !

The tour of the tables was unforgettable, without revealing too much I'll just say the couple of honor will never forget what their guests did. I opened the floor with a ring dance. The remainder of the night was women coming out of their high-heels and onto the dance floor with whomever they could grab.

I think the only thing bad thing that happened, was with one of the bridesmaids who......hmmmm.......Ah.... The Party must go on !

Angela & Justin

"Rod did an excellent job communicating with Justin and I throughout the entire planning process. He was attentive to our needs and music requests. He made our event a great one with appropriate music at the right time and incorporating the hip-hop jazz which several of our guests really enjoyed during dinner. He was a great DJ and we will in the future not only reference him to other friends or associates, but also Positive Vibes as a company. We were truly blessed to have you working with us !!"
- Angela & Justin
Angela & Justin held their event at the new facility 'Ford's Colony Country Club' in Williamsburg. They choose the Budget package and truly invited great friends and family to celebrate their union. The 'hip-hop' jazz Angela mentioned is from the company's collection of 'Hip-Jazz' (Seko's term) which features jazz artists performing Soul, Hip-Hop, and R&B hits in a jazzy format. Playing the Hip Jazz truly pleases many crowds as Jazz lovers love the Jazz, and the pop music lovers sing and hum along with their favs' done in an appropriate fashion.
